Meditation and Psychotherapy

Division of Meditation and Psychotherapy

The Division of Meditation and Psychotherapy offers four programs specifically designed for mental health professionals:

1. Training in Meditation and Psychotherapy

Training in Meditation and Psychotherapy includes courses, workshops, discussion groups, films and other activities that serve to train and guide psychologists, psychiatrists, clinical social workers and other mental health professionals in the incorporation of meditation into clinical practice.

2. Meditation Sangha and Forum for Professionals

The meditation sangha and forum offers support to individual professionals by providing regular meetings to explore current topics and issues in religion, meditation and spirituality. The sangha will also offer retreats focused around issues relevant to meditation and mental health practice.

3. Referral Service

The referral service serves as a central clearinghouse for psychotherapists in the Delaware Valley who include meditation in their work so that individuals seeking therapy can find a therapist most suited to their needs.  Our service allows you to Find A Therapist or Become A Provider.

4. Stress Management Clinic

In cooperation with the Center for Applied Meditation, the Stress Management Clinic provides programs for educators, lawyers and individuals as well as mental health professionals experiencing chronic pain and stress. The program teaches meditation-based techniques that have been found to help reduce pain and chronic stress when practiced regularly.

The Division provides training and other resources, including continuing education to mental health professionals in the greater Delaware Valley. The programs also serve as an introduction to the AMS programs at the Won Institute, which include the Certificate in Applied Meditation Studies and the Masters Degree in Applied Meditation Studies for those who might be interested in pursuing more intensive study in Buddhism, meditation and psychotherapy.
